Products particularly adapted to direct compression

Direct compression is a process that is becoming increasingly more important as it requires less drug stressing conditions than wet granulation and allows for improved productivity.

Roquette proposes a remarkable varied range of products suitable for the formulation of all types of tablets, ensuring good flowability, excellent compressibility and a specific particle size distribution to ensure uniform mixing. We offer multiple starches or starch compounds for swallowable / dispersible tablets.

PEARLITOL® FLASH mannitol-starch compound is an innovative coprocessed excipient for orodispersible tablets.
StarLac® lactose-starch compound is a co-processed excipient with unique tableting properties.
LYCATAB® C multifunctional starch excipient is a multifunctional starch excipient for capsules and tablets.
MICROCEL™ is a partially depolymerized cellulose, white, odorless and tasteless crystalline powder, composed by porous and high compressibility particles, ideal for tablets, capsules, granules and pellets.

Polyols with outstanding combination of chemical stability, great tasting and sugar-free properties.

PEARLITOL® SD mannitol and PEARLITOL® DC mannitol are part of a comprehensive range of granulated mannitol, adapted for swallowable / chewable / oral dispersible or effervescent tablets, used in challenging or unstable formulations.

We offer also a range of directly compressible polyols, such as SweetPearl® P DC maltitol for pleasant crunchy chewable tablets, NEOSORB® XTAB sorbitol for intense tasting suckable tablets or XYLISORB® XTAB xylitol for a cooling effect.

Cellulose with a wide variety of particle sizes and moisture content.

We offer a range of cellulose, MICROCEL™, to fit any process (direct compression, wet granulation, dry granulation, roller compaction), as well as moisture sensitive APIs.

Diluents

Diluents are inert powders acting as fillers in the formulation of tablets, capsules and powders for sachets. Roquette offers a range of both water-soluble and water-insoluble diluents that also have a disintegration function.

Starches or partially pregelatinized starches are traditional and trusted insoluble excipients, having the added function of disintegration aid: and extra white maize starch, Wheat starch TB, Potato starch supra NB bacterio, LYCATAB® C partially pregelatinized starch.

Highly functional polyols are appreciated for their physicochemical stability, organoleptic properties (sweetening power, cooling effect) and sugar-free, dietary benefits: NEOSORB® sorbitol powder, PEARLITOL® mannitol powder (crystalline, granulated), SweetPearl® maltitol powder.

The large range of soluble diluents includes also maltodextrins and dried glucose syrups, dextrose monohydrate and dextrose anhydrous.

Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) is widely used as a binder/diluent in oral tablet and capsule formulations, typically in dry granulation, wet granulation, and direct compression processes. In addition, MCC may also reduce friction during tablet ejection and facilitate tablet disintegration: MICROCEL™ 101, 102, 12, 112, 200.

Binders for wet granulation

Wet granulation, a traditional manufacturing process, is still widely used. It is often required when the pharmaceutical form contains a high level of active ingredients.

Roquette has specifically developed pharmaceutical binders with different degrees of water solubility or dispersibility.

LYCATAB® PGS is a cold water soluble starch, ideally used in high shear equipment.

LYCATAB® DSH is a water-soluble maltodextrin binder suitable for preparation of granulation solutions or use in dry blends.
