Supporting Animal Health with Plant-Based Solutions

Animal nutrition is evolving to meet growing demands for health, sustainability, and performance. The market is embracing innovative, plant-based ingredients that support well-being and optimize feed efficiency across species.

Our Expertise

At Roquette, we believe that animal nutrition starts with safe, high-quality ingredients. That’s why we pay close attention to the composition of our products, to prevent any health issues in animals nutrition. We aim at minimizing risks like antinutritional factors and mycotoxins. By tailoring our solutions to specific species and nutritional needs, we help our customers create formulations that support animal well-being.

Some of our ingredients also naturally contribute to better health, thanks to their essential roles or beneficial physiological properties. Discover how our portfolio can make a difference in animal nutrition.

“Recent research indicates that nutrition is more than just meeting animals minimum requirements in nutrients [...] nutrition is interlinked with the animal’s microbiome, gut and immune function.”

These ingredients are essential to create formulations that align with modern expectations for animal nutrition and well-being.

The Benefits of our Fibers

We offer a wide range of plant-based fibers derived from different raw materials. These fibers support key aspects of animal health with their specific characteristics.

- In weight management strategies, fiber plays a crucial role by enabling caloric dilution within the animal diets. Since fibers are not digested, they do not bring calories, making them ideal for formulating low-energy diets. Some fibers also promote a satiety effect by influencing gut transit time, helping animals feel fuller for longer. Therefore, it is possible to use fibers in global weight management strategies, whether with insoluble fibers like our Pea Hulls or with a combined mixture of soluble and insoluble fibers like our TUBERCELL® Dried Potato Pulp

- For digestive balance, insoluble fibers like Roquette Pea Hulls help regulate gut transit speed, which can mitigate issues such as constipation. Additionally, both pea hulls and potato fibers contribute to improved fecal consistency due to their water-binding properties and impact on stool texture.

- Certain fibers also support gut health and immune function. NUTRIOSE® fiber and  TUBERCELL® Dried Potato Pulp positively influence the intestinal microbiota, helping to reduce the risk of colon inflammation and minimizing feces volume and odor. These fibers contribute to the proper functioning of the intestinal immune system, promoting overall digestive well-being.

Roquette also offers mixed fiber solutions such as COREX® M100, COREX® 100, COREX® 200, and MILUREX®, which combine the benefits of both soluble and insoluble fibers. These products provide a stable and reliable source of dietary fiber, suitable for maintaining the health of animals across various life stages.

The Benefits of our PUFAs from microalgae

Polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid), are essential nutrients that play a key role in maintaining animal health. Sourced sustainably from microalgae, these fatty acids contribute to the proper development and function of the nervous system, support cognitive performance, and help regulate inflammatory responses. Their inclusion in pet food formulations reflects a commitment to both nutritional quality and environmental responsibility.

The Benefits of our Organic Acids

Organic acids are widely recognized for their role in supporting gut health, especially in young animals during critical stages of development. We produce an effective co-product from the production of gluconodelta-lactone, rich in gluconic acid. It is obtained from renewable resources locally sourced in Europe. Its inclusion in animal nutrition helps maintain a balanced intestinal environment, promoting digestive comfort and contributing to the overall resilience of the gut.
