Our solutions for Premixes and Veterinary products
Premixes and veterinary products are essential components of specialty feeds and formulations, designed to meet the complex nutritional and health needs of animals. These solutions require high-quality ingredients capable of addressing physiological challenges and improving overall animal well-being. With our broad portfolio of nutritional solutions and long-standing expertise in pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, Roquette is uniquely positioned to address the evolving needs in animal production.
Meeting the demands of premixes and veterinary products market
The role of specialty products like premixes and veterinary formulations is becoming increasingly important. These products are essential for supporting the nutritional needs of young animals, high-performing livestock, and animals under physiological stress.
This demand calls for ingredients that go beyond basic nutrition. For premixes, only premium-quality ingredients can be used in specialty feeds, as they require carriers with high nutritional value and reliable quality, unlike classical carriers such as calcium carbonate, which are typically used in premixes for adult animal feed.
As for veterinary products, they also require high-quality ingredients. Today’s production of safe and affordable milk, eggs and meat requires a production system that combines safe husbandry on the one hand and balanced, safe and cost-effective feeding systems on the other hand. That is why these formulations need components that are highly purified and, at the same time, provide a beneficial effect on the health status of the animals.
Roquette’s high-purity starches and starch derivatives are designed to meet the demanding requirements of the premix and veterinary product industries. These ingredients ensure excellent powder flowability, low moisture absorption, consistent quality, and the absence of contaminants. At the same time they also deliver the nutritional value essential for animal health and performance.
Our Dextrose
A fast-acting energy source and functional carrier.
Dextrose, the crystalline form of D-glucose, is one of the most efficient energy sources in animal nutrition. Unlike lactose or sucrose, it is directly absorbed without the need for enzymatic digestion. Dextrose therefore acts as an energy booster by providing glucose that is immediately assimilated by the body. This feature is particularly useful for correcting hypoglycaemia (stress during transport, farrowing, diarrhea, post-surgery) and also for promoting recovery after intense physical activity (racehorses, farrowing) and supporting usual activity.
As a leading global producer of dextrose, we offer a wide portfolio of dextrose products in various forms and particle sizes (monohydrate, anhydrous, granulated, and compressible), making it a versatile solution for livestock nutrition and specialty veterinary formulations. We also lead in pyrogen-free dextrose production, offering a unique solution for injectable veterinary applications.
In addition to the nutritional value, forms and particle sizes are features of the highest importance to the premix industry. Roquette’s Dextrose monohydrate and anhydrous dextrose forms, have been developed through several particle sizes, from fine to standard and coarse grades. These offer a very significant choice of highly functional carriers for the premix industry, carriers associated with the required levels of digestibility.
Our Starches
The reputation of the nutritional value of starches is well known in animal nutrition. We provide a broad range of native and pregelatinized starches derived from corn, wheat, potatoes, and peas. These starches are ideal premix carriers due to their fine particle size, high purity, and excellent stability. They offer no water absorption, no release of free water, and are free from contaminants. Making them a cost-effective and reliable choice for specialty animal feeds.
Our Maltodextrins
Derived from starch hydrolysis, maltodextrins are widely used as functional carriers in spray-dried premixes. They offer excellent flowability, easy water dispersibility, and can also serve as taste-masking agents in specific veterinary applications.
Our Fibers
Fibers are largely used as premix carriers, especially in wheat bran. Besides the wheat gluten feed MILUREX® pellets, Roquette’s fiber offer is different from the classical one thanks to an interesting portfolio of non-wheat fiber: potato pulp in pellets, pea hulls in pellets and the pelleted corn fiber COREX® 100, all of which require grinding into the appropriate particle size for use as premix carriers. These fibers offer a valuable alternative to traditional wheat bran that is suitable for use in premix formulations.
Our Sorbitol
Sorbitol, obtained through starch hydrogenation, is a sugar-free, water-soluble carrier with a pleasant sweetness (60% of sucrose). It is particularly useful in liquid formulations and palatable veterinary products.
