To meet our challenges, we are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor Instrumentation within the Instrumentation Maintenance team! This position will be located in Gokak.

Your Mission: As a Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations during your assigned shift and adhering to the guidelines with respect to SOP and budget.

Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor – Instrumentation

1. Role Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor – Instrumentation is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and reliability of all instrumentation and control systems used in production. This role ensures equipment uptime, compliance with food safety norms, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Maintenance & Calibration

  • Supervise preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for all instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure accurate calibration of sensors, transmitters, control valves, gauges, and analytical instruments as per ISO, FSSAI, HACCP, and plant standards.
  • Maintain calibration schedules, certificates, and audit-ready documentation.

B. Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Diagnose and rectify faults in PLC, SCADA, VFDs, HMIs, and control loops.
  • Support production teams with real-time troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major failures and implement corrective actions.

C. Production Line Support (Food Industry Focus)

  • Ensure instrumentation on processing, filling, packaging, and utility lines performs within set parameters.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Verify accuracy and functionality of temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, conductivity, and level instrumentation used in food processes.

D. Team Leadership

  • Lead a team of instrumentation technicians and guide them on daily tasks.
  • Train technicians on safety procedures, new technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Allocate tasks, review work quality, and ensure SOP compliance.

E. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain shift logs, breakdown reports, equipment history cards, spare consumption records, and maintenance MIS.
  • Support internal/external audits related to FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and GMP.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical/instrumentation safety standards.

F. Projects & Improvements

  • Participate in installation and commissioning of new equipment, automation upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Review instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and vendor documents.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and energy optimization.

3. Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields.

Experience

  • 4–12 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance in food, beverage, dairy, sugar, snacks, FMCG, or similar continuous process industries.

4. Technical Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens/Allen Bradley/Schneider), SCADA, and automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with sensing devices (temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, etc.).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control loops, VFDs, servo drives, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with food industry standards: HACCP, GMP, FSSAI, FSSC 22000.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.

6. Work Environment

  • Food manufacturing plant with rotating shifts

Specificities:

Single point of contact during assigned shift for ensuring all maintenance activities are in place.

Academics: Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years of experience in similar industries.
