CTS Segment Team Leader – Paper & Board
Supporting Customers with Know-How and High-Performing Solutions
Inventive thinking and solving problems motivate Antanas Visokinskas in his Customer Technical Services (CTS) role at our production site in Panevėžys, Lithuania. He enjoys working on something new every day while developing functional and renewable solutions for bioindustry applications like recyclable packaging and specialty paper.
Antanas has been part of CTS since 2012, visiting customers and running experiments in the lab to help solve technical challenges. In his current role as CTS Segment Team Leader for Paper & Board, he also works on innovation and manufacturing projects with colleagues. They create new plant-based ingredients and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
“In my position, I need to understand the whole value chain from our suppliers of wheat, as the site’s raw material, to our customers,” said Antanas. “That helps me connect the dots and make correlations from start to finish. Sometimes the smallest detail could impact satisfaction or results for the customer.”
CTS connects ingredient production with customer needs. Antanas and the CTS team provide sustainable, cost-effective solutions for the paper and board industry. They have about 100 different recipes to use and adapt our ingredients for the specific application. The recipes are adjusted based on what the client needs and regional or cultural factors that affect how a solution can be used.
We get to innovate and produce different products, which gives us more knowledge about how they work in various applications. With that knowledge, we can offer not only the best product but also technical support, which customers value in achieving the desired outcome.
Among our biobased innovations are VECTOR® modified starch and STABILYS® BA 25 modified starch. These ingredients can help customers meet sustainability goals and comply with regulations for products such as packaging materials and food service items. The CTS team is also exploring how our cellulosic ingredients can create new opportunities in industrial applications.
As part of his role, Antanas gets to travel, which is one of his favorite hobbies outside of work as well.
He said, “Having the opportunity to visit different countries and customers is the cherry on top of my already interesting work. I like to see different architecture, try national dishes, and experience other cultures.”
Traveling and talking with people broadens his scope and understanding of the various ideas and needs that exist.
Antanas shared, “We need to take into account what others think and whether a solution will work in different countries.”
