Making a Positive, Sustainable Impact

Coming from a family that has been in the farming industry for generations, Marc Ravon was drawn to work at Roquette as a company that is family-owned with a strong link to nature and offering “good-for-you” products. Marc moved from a career in finance and the global energy sector to a finance role at Roquette, which led to an opportunity in leading innovation project management and eventually his current role as Head of Sustainability Excellence.

Sustainability was a natural transition for Marc. While managing the innovation project portfolio, he started working with the INVENT for the future sustainability platform team, helping evaluate the environmental impact of our products and measure the positive impact that our products can provide to consumers. In Marc’s role now, he leads three transversal areas for sustainability excellence: ensuring our life+nature strategy is up to date with programs in place to deliver on our 2030 objectives; disclosing and reporting on sustainability performance for internal and external stakeholders (rating agencies, customers, investors, etc.); and improving data management and processes.

Early in his sustainability role two years ago, Marc led the project for Roquette to be part of the first wave of applications for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) as legal disclosure of sustainability performance. The preparation, application and reporting process for the first year typically takes two years. However, our team had about six months to complete it successfully, which was a significant achievement for Marc and the team. This year’s recognitions and scores by EcoVadis and CDP highlight the achievements and continuous improvement Marc and our teams build on and contribute to.

Roquette's purpose talks about how, together, we turn the potential of nature into the essentials of life. If we want to do that, we need to take care of nature. The actions we take for sustainability – such as mitigating our impact on the environment as best as we can and showing the positive impact of our products – resonate quite well with my job’s objectives and my personal positioning and connection to nature.

This shows in Marc’s enjoyment of hiking and trail running long distances in the mountains.

In the past, he played and coached team sports like basketball and soccer, but now, he competes with himself by setting challenges for his long-distance runs.

His competitive spirit on the trail helps fuel his pursuit of excellence on the job. Our people’s commitment to their work at Roquette is what continues to impress Marc since he interviewed for his first job here eight years ago.

He said, “There’s a sense of belonging and commitment, and people are welcoming and share their experience with others. It’s important to the success of the company to keep that spirit alive.”

It’s also what he sees as important to support our purpose, making a positive impact every day.
