GENERAL MANAGEMENT - Managing Director, India and Commercial Director, NBI

Ref. R0025865

Mumbai, India
Posted on March 31, 2026

Roquette is seeking a seasoned P&L leader to assume the dual mandate of Managing Director – India and Commercial Director – NBI.

Core Mandate

  • Full legal and country leadership responsibility for India, covering both NBI and HPS businesses - key contributor to Roquette’s ambition of scaling the India business toward €1bn over time, with NBI as the primary growth engine.
  • Direct P&L ownership for the NBI portfolio - act as the face of the “new Roquette” in India, driving repositioning from volume-led commodity plays toward differentiated, specialty-led growth.

Strategic priorities & key responsibilities

  • NBI-first growth agenda: Focus on stabilizing and growing the NBI portfolio by developing and executing a clear India strategy aligned with global priorities, with explicit KPIs and milestones.
  • Portfolio and market shaping: Shift mix from commodity exposure toward specialty ingredients, bio-industrial applications, and adjacencies (e.g., nutrition, cosmetics, bio-materials). Build deep relationships with key customers, partners, regulators, and government stakeholders.
  • Commercial excellence: Strengthen marketing, key account management, pricing discipline, and customer intimacy across food and nutrition value chains.
  • Operational and footprint oversight: Ensure India manufacturing and supply chain capabilities are aligned with global standards, local cost competitiveness, and future growth needs. Champion sustainability, safety, and ethical standards across all India operations
  • Leadership & culture: Build a high-performing, values-driven leadership team; embed Roquette’s no-frills, hands-on, accountable culture. Provide overall country leadership, governance, compliance, and stakeholder management for India.

The role reports to the Managing Director – APAC and is based in Mumbai.

Candidate Profile

  • A seasoned executive with over 25 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles overseeing businesses of comparable scale and complexity.
  • Strong domain exposure to food ingredients, nutrition, bio-industrial products, specialty chemicals, or pharma-adjacent ingredients.
  • Track record of business transformation, including shifting mix from commodity to specialty, improving profitability, and building scalable organisations. M&A / integration exposure is a plus, given Roquette’s evolving portfolio
  • Demonstrated success in commercial leadership—sales, marketing, pricing, portfolio shaping, and customer-led growth.
  • Experience operating within large multinational, matrixed environments, with the ability to translate global strategy into local execution.
  • Solid exposure to manufacturing and supply chain, even if not a deep technical expert.
