Roquette supports the Giro Rosa

For the first time ever, Roquette Italia has been the main sponsor of the first stage of a high-profile international sporting event, The Giro Rosa, an all-female cycling event in Italy.
Cassano Spinola, 5th July, 2019 - The 5th July 2019 marked a significant date for both Cassano Spinola and Roquette Italia: it's one of those dates that will mark an era for the company and its close bond with its community. For the first time ever, Roquette Italia has been the main sponsor of the first stage of a high-profile international sporting event, The Giro Rosa, an all-female cycling event in Italy.

On the 4th and 5th of July, the village of Cassano was the backdrop to this event that exalts some of the values of the world of sports: working for a common goal, forward-looking in planning the route, personal engagement and team work to reach the final objective. Values that perfectly mirror those of Roquette, a global leader of plant-based ingredients for Food, Nutrition and Health markets.

The sponsorship of Roquette is based on the strong and deep-rooted bond between the company and Cassano, and the match between the Giro Rosa and the scope of Roquette activities in support of well-being and healthier lifestyles.

Female cycling has been gaining in popularity over recent years. The 30th Giro Rosa is a milestone event in the ladies’ international racing calendar. The 920.4 kms race runs along the roads of Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. 144 racers, divided into 24 teams, from all over the world are taking part.

Beyond the sponsorship of this event, Roquette contributed to the important staging of the launch of the Giro Rosa in Cassano, and took an active part throughout the event. On the 4th and 5th of July, close to the starting line and amidst the hive of organizational activity, it hosted visitors in a booth that showed how Roquette is firmly engaged in improving the health of people and that of the environment through its wide plant-based products offering.

This social engagement is also shown by the interaction with local communities and by the activities of the recently created Roquette Foundation for Health.

The company stand, set up in the main square in Cassano, was a point of interest to many who took part in the event, including the local authorities, Cassano citizens, sportspeople or passers-by who were moved by their curiosity to learn more about the local branch of the French Multinational Roquette.

Roquette Chief Executive Officer, Jean-Marc Gilson, had the honor of giving the starting signals to the first 17 km chrono climb stage of the Giro Rosa that ended in Castellania Coppi the hometown of the international cycling hero, Fausto Coppi, the Champion of Champions.
