Influence of binder attributes on binder effectiveness in a continuous twin screw wet granulation process via wet and dry binder addition |
CLEARGUM® CO 03 octenyl succinate starch; LYCOAT® RS 720 hydroxypropyl pea starch |
Both CLEARGUM® CO 03 and LYCOAT® RS 720 present good binding properties on a hydrophobic dicalcium phosphate (DCP) powder. Owing to its low surface tension in water, CLEARGUM® offered very good wettability of the DCP. |
Identifying critical binder attributes to facilitate binder selection for efficient formulation development in a continuous twin screw wet granulation |
CLEARGUM® CO 01 octenyl succinate starch; LYCOAT® RS 720 Hydroxypropyl starch |
Both CLEARGUM® CO 01 and LYCOAT® RS 720 present good overall binding properties. Due to its low surface tension in water, CLEARGUM® CO 01 is more efficient for hydrophobic powder (DCP) granulation. At the same time, LYCOAT® RS 720 presents better efficacy to granulate hydrophilic powder (mannitol). |
