Method:

  1. Soak the gelatin in water (part C).
  2. Cook blend (A) to 116 oC (Brix = 86).
  3. Add (C) to (A) while beating at atmospheric pressure.
  4. Add melted part (B) and calcium carbonate.
  5. Add flavor and acid, and beat.
  6. Cool mass.
  7. Form and cut.

Additional comments:

  • The active is added at the propitious moment, as a function of its physical and chemical properties.
  • Use of polyols can improve the chemical stability of this product.
  • LYCASIN® maltitol liquids are widely used as a vehicle and humectant for syrups, suspensions and as bulk sweetener in lozenges and medicated confectionary. The natural sweetness and non-cariogenic property make LYCASIN® suitable to be used in formulation addressing all types of patient populations including pediatric and diabetic. In the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry, these maltitol liquids are also a sucrose replacement in preparations such as sugarless syrups, lozenges and jellies.
  • PEARLITOL® mannitol is used as a filler and filler/binder as well as a bulk sweetener. The PEARLITOL® range offers a unique blend of exceptional physical and chemical stability and no hygroscopicity. With great organoleptic, non-cariogenic and sugar-free properties, PEARLITOL® is suitable to be used in formulations addressing various patient populations including pediatric and diabetic. PEARLITOL® can be used in in various oral dosage forms in both pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications including swallowable tablets, orally dispersible tablets, chewable tablets, effervescent tablets, lozenges, blends, granules, pellets premix and medicated confectionary.
