Thermally Modified Starches
STABILYS® A Thermally Modified Starches are used in Paper & Board applications to act as natural coating binders. They play an important role in manufacturing and can be used to make coated fine papers; packaging board - carton board and corrugated papers; and coated and uncoated wood containing publication papers. These materials also acts as natural coating binders to provide printability, surface properties and serve as OBA carriers.
STABILYS® A help reduce costs while preserving the environment as we make them from renewable resources to meet the paper coating process requirements including coating colors preparation and calendaring. They are available with different viscosity and molecular weight levels to suit your coating color requirements.
Other important attributes include the following:
• Their rheology is perfectly suited to modern film press and blade coaters.
• They reduce coating costs by partially replacing latexes in coating colors. Their water retention improves the coater runnability. Additionally, their optical brightener carrier properties can be used to reduce PVOH or optical brightening agent quantities.
• These products are easily dissolved using the STABILYS® A cooker designed by Roquette.
• STABILYS® A053 grade is fully soluble and can be mixed up directly as a dry powder into the coating color.
