In PU coatings, POLYSORB® isosorbide could be used as a chain extender to replace the commonly used 1,4-butanediol. In comparison to BDO-based PU, POLYSORB® isosorbide brings a higher heat resistance judging from its higher Tg. 

Also, the adhesion of aluminum Q-panel is improved with the formulation containing isosorbide.

Finally, different tests have been made, and isosorbide-based PU coatings show a higher impact resistance. Contrary to the BDO-based coating, when a ball drops on the support, both the Q-panel and the coating deforms without any breakage.
