Cyclodextrins

Cyclodextrins

Roquette has put great energy into the industrial development of Betacyclodextrins, which employs the bio-transformation of starch. Circular molecules “encapsulate” other molecules so as to form complexes or inclusion compounds, resulting in modified properties for the “trapped” molecule, included in the final product.

  • Native” BetaCycloDextrin is mainly used to increase solubility and shelf life, particularly of volatile flavors and fragrances, and to extract some undesirable compounds, improve the organoleptic properties by masking odors or tastes, retain or control the release of encapsulated molecules, or stabilize against temperature, degradation, hydrolysis, and oxidation.

  • Hydroxypropyl BetaCycloDextrins

KLEPTOSE® HP and HPB, Roquette’s Hydroxypropyl betacyclodextrins (HPBCD), are highly soluble betacyclodextrin derivatives, multifunctional excipients for molecular encapsulation, suitable for pharmaceutical (oral and parenteral grades) as well as cosmetic applications.

KLEPTOSE® HP and HPB are particularly suitable for solving difficulties with aqueous solubility, stability or taste.

  • CRYSMEB® Methyl BetaCycloDextrins completes the range of Roquette cyclodextrins specially designed for the pharmaceutical industries, produced in a purpose built, state of the art manufacturing plant following US FDA and ICH Q7A GMP quality guidelines.
