Responsible Economy Trophy 2009
On December 8th, 2009, Roquette receives the Responsible Economy Trophy and the Good Environmental Practice Prize.
Over the last fifteen years or so, the ALLIANCES network has been supporting companies in Nord - Pas de Calais and the Euroregion, small and big alike, to help them combine the improving of performances with a respect for mankind and the environment.

In recognition of the actions undertaken in this field, every year ALLIANCES awards its Responsible Economy Trophies to a selection of companies that have produced a few significant achievements.
The jury for 2009 selected 14 companies including Roquette who had laid emphasis on the new organisation of our potato starch activity at our now only site of Vecquemont and the construction of a new effluent treatment plant. |

Thus, at a ceremony organised on Tuesday, 8 December last, at the premises of the Cité des Echanges in Marcq en Baroeul, Marc Roquette received this Trophy rewarding the work accomplished at the Vecquemont site. Wishing to associate all the teams in the Group that contributed to this project, our Chairman was accompanied by a few of their representatives.
During the various speeches made during the evening, the Chairman of ALLIANCES, Philippe Vasseur, stressed the point that responsible economy should not be limited to its environmental dimension alone: ‘Responsible economy refers of course to the environment, but also to the economic responsibility of captains of industry, the social or societal dimension.’

In line with this logic, Roquette presented a good practice concerning the new effluent treatment station at Vecquemont commissioned in 2007. This facility treats 60T a day of COD (i.e. the equivalent of a town of 600,000 inhabitants) and produces biogas enabling the production of steam (15 % of the site’s needs). It was this important investment that enabled the transfer of the potato starch activity of Vic sur Aisne to Vecquemont and with it the energising of the organisation of this sector and the ensuring its continued existence. Furthermore, it has also led to an extension of the working times of the seasonal workers (by approximately 2 months).
For this action Roquette also received, in addition to the Responsible Economy Trophy, the Prize for the Best Good Environmental Practice..
