Since 1933 Roquette has obtained its raw materials from
renewable natural resources, separating their componants
and transforming them to meet the needs of industry. Using
starch extracted from maize, potatoes and wheat, Roquette
has created a range of products for the food, pharmaceutical,
cosmetic, paper and biotechnology industries.
Roquette products are naturally biodegradable and generally
present no danger of any kind to the environment. One
of the notable characteristics of our business is its
full integration into the world of agriculture.
At Roquette, production process concepts and implementation
are deliberately orientated towards products which involve
the minimum of waste and by-products which can be put
to maximum use. Both approaches aim to reduce the need
for waste disposal. Our research and development laboratories
have initiated various innovative technologies to achieve
this.
Roquettes environmental policy
is based on the following main principles:
- on going compliance with regulations,
- control on environmental factors,
- use of technologies that preserve the environment
while respecting the company's main economic balances,
- waste reduction and recovery of by-products produced
by the company's activity,
- prevention and management of major risks,
- Corporate commitment demonstrated by on-going
staff training.
Roquette has set up an environmental management
system, based on standard ISO 14001.
The system is based on progress targets not only in
the plants and workshops, but also in the company's
main functions.
